Norristown Woman Injured in a Violent Workplace Accident
JENKINTOWN PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS
A female employee at Norristown State Hospital is recovering from injuries sustained from an assault on hospital property. Authorities state that the assault occurred on November 12th around 8:30 in the morning when 30-year-old Jameel Chesson attacked the female employee from behind, injuring her head, neck, and face.
According to a state-run website, Norristown State Hospital is a long-term psychiatric facility focusing on patients with “severe and persistent mental illness.” While it is unclear at this time if Chesson was a resident of the hospital, it is confirmed that he is facing charges of aggravated assault and simple assault from incident(s) in 2012. He also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in 2009. Chesson now faces additional charges of aggravated assault, harassment and simple assault.
Workplace assaults can be dangerous and potentially deadly. As we await updates on the employee’s injuries and recovery, we can confirm she was taken to the hospital for treatment for her injuries. We wish her the best for a full and speedy recovery.
Workplace violence is never acceptable, nor is it as rare as we would like to believe; especially in high-risk environments such as mental health facilities with aggressive patients. If you believe that you are in danger of experiencing a workplace threat or assault, please be sure to tell your supervisor immediately. Quickly identifying a threat could make a difference in stopping violence before it happens.
