Jeep Drifts Into Opposing Traffic Causing Berks County Head-On Crash
JENKINTOWN PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS
On the first Monday of the New Year, a serious head-on crash occurred in Maxatawny Township on Route 222. The wreck involved a Jeep and a tanker truck that collided just after 7 a.m. on January, 7, 2013.
According to state police, 43-year-old Lisa Walker, of Kutztown, was driving north on Route 222 in her Jeep when her vehicle crossed over into southbound lanes of traffic. Walker’s vehicle crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler tanker truck.
Walker was said to be critically injured following this crash and was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown for medical treatment. State police stated that she was last known to be in critical condition.
The tanker truck driver, 55-year-old Mitchell Brenner, of Sinking Springs, reported injuries and was transported by ambulance to the same hospital for care; however, the hospital did not report that he was a patient. Both his tanker truck and Walker’s Jeep were said to have sustained disabling damages.
A section of Route 222 between Church and Grim roads in Maxatawny Township was closed approximately six hours while state police investigated. Additionally, crews had to remove the diesel fuel from the tanker before towing it, which led to that road being closed until about 1 p.m.
Police still do not know why Walker’s car drifted into the opposite lanes of traffic, which is why the crash still remains under investigation.
Our eastern Pennsylvania personal injury lawyers would like to wish both Mitchell Brenner and Lisa Walker complete recoveries following this devastating accident.
