Forklift Accident at Whitehall Township Steel Company Injures One
JENKINTOWN PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS
A Pennsylvania workers’ compensation attorney at Mednick, Mezyk & Kredo recently heard about an accident involving an employee at Pennsylvania Steel Company. The accident, which happened on July 23rd, has prompted an investigation of the Whitehall Township company by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA spokeswoman, Leni Uddyback-Forston, stated that they were notified about the accident that trapped one of Pennsylvania Steel Company’s employees under a forklift.
Uddyback-Forston went on to say that OSHA plans to conduct an investigation of the business to determine if there are other occupational hazards as well as if there were specific causes that led up to the accident. The inspection could take up to six months as they seek to protect other employees at Pennsylvania Steel Co. and set an example for other like-businesses.
The injured man’s identity and extent of his injuries are not known at this time, however, emergency personnel responding to the scene stated that the man was extracted from the equipment safely. When Lehigh Valley Live contacted Pennsylvania Steel Co. for comment, the person who answered denied knowledge of emergency personnel arriving at the facility on the 1100 block of Lehigh Avenue. The company’s chairman was also unavailable for comment on the accident.
Forklift accidents in Pennsylvania can be dangerous and, sadly, in many cases, deadly. The Pennsylvania workers’ compensation law firm of Mednick, Mezyk & Kredo sends our sincere wishes for a quick and full recovery for the individual who was injured. We also hope that future accidents like this might be prevented with OSHA’s inspection and investigation.
