I think there is a health hazard at my job in Philadelphia. Can I have someone come in and inspect it for safety?

Pennsylvania workers’ compensation claims can often be prevented with a focus on workplace safety. To protect employees throughout the United States, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has built systems to help keep employees safe. Thankfully, if you suspect that there are hazards at your workplace, you may file a complaint with OSHA.
If you believe there is a serious hazard, or your employer is not following OSHA standards, you may contact OSHA and file an official complaint. You may request that OSHA not tell your employer who filed the complaint. Similarly, your employer cannot fire, demote, transfer or discriminate in any way based on you filing a complaint or using other OSHA rights.
You may file a complaint with OSHA online or over the phone. Written complaints submitted to the closest OSHA office and signed by the employee are more likely to result in an on-site inspection than any other method. During an OSHA inspection, workers and their representatives have the right to attend the inspection, speak privately with the inspector and take part in any meetings between the inspector and their employer before or after the inspection.
Upon finding a violation, your employer could face fines or citations for serious hazards. Citations require the employer to eliminate the hazard by a specific date. Upon sending in a complaint to OSHA, you may request to find out the result of the inspection and request a new review if no citations are issued.
When it comes to Pennsylvania workplace hazards, it is incredibly important to speak up if you feel that there is a serious threat to health and safety. Serious hazards that go unnoticed, unchanged and unrepaired can result in serious, even deadly workplace accidents.
