JENKINTOWN PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS
Eleven-year-old Tyvaun Frison and his friends were on a sidewalk in Delaware County when a Ford F-350 truck crashed into a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Both vehicles ended up on the sidewalk. Tyvaun’s friend, ten-year-old Rastafari Covert, was killed in the crash.
The Delaware County accident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 on Highland Avenue just off 9th Street in Chester. Tyvaun, Rastafari, and a third friend were on the sidewalk outside a neighborhood pizza shop when a red Ford F-350 travelling south on Highland collided with a burgundy Monte Carlo that had turned south on Highland from West 9th Street. The collision sent both vehicles onto the sidewalk.
The Monte Carlo hit Tyvaun. He suffered a broken leg. The truck overturned on top of Rastafari, crashed through a chain link fence, and careened into a shed. A nurse who witnessed the accident administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until help arrived. Both boys were taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center where Rastafari was pronounced dead. The third boy, 11-year-old Kyree Spriggs, was not physically injured.
Witnesses say that speed was a factor in the crash. However, police from Chester and Delaware County are still investigating the accident. At this time, no charges have been filed.
Accidents involving child pedestrians are more likely to occur during the summer months when children are out of school and spending time outdoors. Our Philadelphia car accident attorneys would like to remind Pennsylvania drivers to slow down and watch for children when driving on neighborhood streets.
We offer our sincerest condolences to Rastafari’s family and friends.
